VOICES.NEWS-Political Parties in Indonesia are currently considered to be still having difficulty in implementing the objectives of the state as stated in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution. Even the democratic process occurring in Political Parties is trapped in oligarchic and conglomerate practices.

Thus among other views that surfaced in a virtual discussion held by the National Movement Association Central Leaders Board (DPP - PGK) with the theme "Ngabuburit Asik Discussion with Bursah Zarnubi of the  DPP PGK: Critical Evaluation of the Development of Democratic Political Parties in Indonesia" in Jakarta, Sunday (05/17/2020).Bursah Zarnubi saw the opportunity for the new political party to be possible. He suggested the creation of a new party should be placed on the basis of big ideals to make the country better.

"I think there is an opportunity for a new political party because various surveys say the level of trust in existing political parties has dropped significantly," Bursah said.

Bursah asserted, the true party is a party rooted in the people and fighting for the people's aspirations. It is not the party which takes the votes of the people and is then used for its oligarchic interests.

In the discussion using the Zoom application were also present as speakers, namely Chusnul Mar'iyah (Lecturer in Political Science, FISIP UI and Director of CEPP UI), Haryatmoko (Political Philosophy and PTIK Postgraduate Lecturer, and Chandra Tirta (Politician). This discussion was hosted by Muhtadin Sabili .

According to Chusnul Mar'iyah, there are a number of problems that make it difficult for Political Parties to implement the objectives of the state which are to protect the entire nation of Indonesia and all of Indonesia's bloodbath, advance public welfare, educate the nation's life, carry out world order based on independence, eternal peace and social justice.

The first problem starts from the legislation that requires Political Parties to have 100 percent management at the provincial level and 75 percent in the Regency / City. This rule has consequences for the high cost of forming a party.

"This is the problem, political parties cannot have business so the money is from the bookie, that is what I call a political party conglomerate," said Chusnul Mar'iyah.

This situation, according to Chusnul, makes it difficult for political parties to manage organizations with democratic principles and ultimately the party is controlled by actors who have money, even though they do not necessarily have ideology or ability.

Consequently, political integrity in the form of morality and honesty from actors in political parties is low.

The next problem is that political parties are now controlled by oligarchs or a small number of people, so that the organization is considered as a private company or family owned. This has made cadre recruitment a problem.

"If we look at it from the side of its economic oligarchy, the Party now plays the role of a rent seeker. In the past, during the New Order era, entrepreneurs became rent seekers, now even political parties are busy playing projects, "he said.

Furthermore Chusnul also highlighted the issue of social oligarchy, in this case the role of civil society. He questioned how the role of activists who had entered the elite and near power. Are they able to fight for the morality of democracy as when they were still in street democracy.

The next problem with political parties is in terms of power struggle democracy. Internal party democracy is considered problematic because the struggle for leadership within the Political Party is also problematic.

Chusnul emphasized that political parties are often not free and independent in determining their leaders. The democratic process in decision making within political parties turns out to be dependent on the ruling regime.

"Why is that? because the political elite in Indonesia today are hostage to each other. You do not want to support, later you will not be supported. You did not help me, later I will be your KPK, "said Chusnul.

On the same occasion, Haryatmoko said, there are three things that hamper democracy so that it runs ineffectively, namely people's sovereignty is confiscated by the DPP, people's aspirations are weakened, and people are far from the place of production.

In the context of strengthening political party institutions, he regretted that the issues raised in the election rarely refer to the improvement of political and economic institutions.

"Democratization will be effective if political parties not only focus on the General Election but serious debates about people's problems, there are political parties that are serious about handling the problem and resolving it politically," Haryatmoko said.

Urgency of the New Party

Chandra Tirta Wijaya said the oligarchs from the current Political Parties were intertwined so that they would try to cover up the emergence of new players. He predicted the possibility of raising the threshold of Parliamentary Threshold (PT) and Presidential Threshold.

Nevertheless opportunities for the formation of new political parties are still possible. Moreover, the existing parties are not in accordance with the aspirations of the people.

"So if friends who want to make a new party, it would be nice to unite into one party so that there is bargaining power and be able to pass through PT.
The existing party is not in accordance with the aspirations of the people, so a new party is made possible with good intentions and intentions to improve the life of national politics and realize the welfare of the people, "Chandra said.
